A Facebook Cover to Observe the Sabbat for Lughnasadh

It's become a habit of mine to make a simple graphic for the Sabbats as they have come up this year. (Though I've missed Beltane for some reason!) Above is the one I made for August 1, also known as Lughnasadh (pronounced LOO-nə-sə) or Lammastide.

The dimensions for this photo make a really nice Facebook Cover or Twitter post, in honor of the sabbat. You are welcome to use it, by all means! Please credit @AnArtsNotebook on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, etc.

What I Harvested for My Lughnasadh

This is when the start of harvesting crops begins. Except in my case, this year it's about now, two weeks after Lughnasadh, when I'll finally have a chance and time and energy to go to the garden center and buy herbs for my container garden. I've been avoiding stores because of the pandemic, so even though I set up the patio far earlier than ever this season, I never got to planting new things, just tending to what was already coming back.

I'm hoping to get everything settled this weekend, two weeks into August. But that's okay, because a lot of herbs can stay out for a while, as they're pretty frost hardy. Whatever isn't I'll bring inside for as long as I can then harvest and dry.

Anyway, that's plant-based harvesting for Lughnasadh. But in fact, what I actually harvested on Aug 1 this year was data! I made the first tentative schedule for this year's Boston Poetry Marathon, to be exact. All the data that the readers sent to us and my fellow organizers and I gathered and put into a big ginat spreadsheet got processed by me on Lughnasadh this year (hence no time for plant-based harvesting!)

Here is the fruit of our labor: https://bostonpoetrymarathon.wordpress.com/schedule/ Everything the follow week, August 6-8, went really well for our "Virtual" Boston Poetry Marathon. I can't believe it's already been a week since it occurred.

To be honest, I'm still tired from the poetry/data/event planning harvesting!!!

Other Graphics for Sabbats

Here are the other simple graphics I made for Imbolc (February 1), Ostara (March 23), and Litha (June 22). For some reason I didn't have time to make one for Beltane this year, but some day I will! Please enjoy these, in the meantime. And again, please just credit @AnArtsNotebook if you use them!
