If we're not working in one of the essential services, then the best thing we can do is stay home and keep ourselves busy there. How am I going to do that? I am going to do a National Poetry Writing Month Challenge ON STEROIDS!

What is NaPoWriMo?

It stands for

NAtional

POetry

WRIting

MOnth

People pledge to write a poem a day. I've done these a bunch. One year, I actually wrote a poem every day for a YEAR. That was pretty awesome.

I've also done variations of these. One year I committed to revising a poem a day. Another I committed to finding an old abandoned poem in one of my zillion notebooks and typing them up. Yet another year, I submitted a poem a day for evey day in April. And I often blogged about these efforts to keep myself accountable

What Makes This Year Ultra Mega Super Duper Extra?

Good question. I'll explain. 

I am doing ALL FIVE THINGS for every day of April. 

• Ultra = Submit a poem for every day of April
• Mega = Find and type a previously untouched poem in a journal for every day of April
• Super = Revise a poem for every day of April
• Duper = Write a new poem for every day of April
• Extra = blog about my efforts for every day of April

What. The. Fack? But, I mean, if this is going to be one of the most difficult months in our recent history, and the best way to weather it is to stay at home and not be a burden on the health care system, then what better way to pass the time than an ULTRA MEGA SUPER DUPER EXTRA NAPOWRIMO???

Hahaha. 

The Logistics of my Ultra Mega Super Duper Extra NaPoWriMo

Usually I don't do the thing, whatever the thing is, every day. I may skip a few and catch up in a burst of action. Given how much I plan to do, I may not get everything done for April. If this spills over into May, I am not going to be down on myself about that. But I will create a tracker for my efforts and update it to make sure I get everything accomplished. 

Blogging about the Ultra Mega Super Duper Extra NaPoWriMo

The posts will vary with - and I never do this, so feel special - the new poems I've written, as well as notes on where I submitted and maybe how many poems I sent them. I might post the newly typed poems to share. I don't think I'll be publishing the newly revises poems, though. I like to keep that part very close to the vest. I might just write about what I got up to but not share it. 

All of the posts will have the tag UMSDENaPoWriMo, which stands for, of course, Ultra Mega Super Duper Extra National Poetry Writing Month.
