I was having a shelving crisis and Target, WalMart, Bed Bath and Beyond, KMart, Home Depot and Staples were not helpful. Everything was just too expensive for not being exactly what I want.
Then I remembered something special about Massachusetts. Recently, an Ikea was opened in Stoughton. (This isn’t the only thing special about MA, by the way…) So I perused (yay to SAT word-use!) the website and they have exactly what I want for exactly the price.
I gave away all my bookshelves last week because for the price of a moving van– about 200+ dollars– to bring my cheap bookshelves down to MA, I could buy 10 brand new bookshelves from Ikea. I don’t need 10. I need 3 five-shelf bookcases and 2 three-shelf bookcases.
In Germany, poor people go to Ikea for breakfast everyday. Breakfast is 1.50 Euros or something like that and you get unlimited coffee –which the poor customers take full advantage of,– rolls, butter, jelly, salmon (!) and some sort of German lunch meat, which sounded gross to me but I’m a vegetarian and therefore biased. The customers also take advantage of the day care services and free diapers. But then I think they abused the free diapers, so now there’s some sort of limit to how many diapers one can get. So, I’m going to IKEA on Wednesday or Thursday. It should be really fun, so I hear. I’ll let you know the details later.
