Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal - Fall 2019 Boston Austen Book Club

A Year of Pride and Prejudice - Boston Austen Book Club Fall Selection - Unmarriageable by Soniah Kamal

The Fall meeting of the Boston Austen Book Club is coming up in a few weeks. As noted in previously, we will continue with our "Year of Pride and Prejuside" by meeting to discuss “Unmarriageable: Pride and Prejudice in Pakistan” by Soniah Kamal.

It’s a great book, and I was able to finish it in just a few days, so you all have plenty of time, if you are interested in coming but haven’t gotten the book yet!

As always, the group is open to new members. All you have to do is read the book and come to discuss it. The details are below. Hope to see you on Saturday, November 16 at 2pm at the Pleasant Café!

Unmarriageable Author Soniah Kamal Online

The author of the Fall selection, Soniah Kamal, is on Twitter and Instagram, if you would like to follow there. She also has a website: http://www.soniahkamal.com/

I tweeted about our upcoming meeting and she replied back! It's so great to be able to communicate with the authors we read, as I did with "Jane Austen: Secret Radical" author Dr Helena Kelly.

If you had a question for Soniah Kamal, what would you ask? Mine would be, "When does the movie adapatation come out?" I want to see these wedding clothes. Which brings me to my next note...

Fashion in Unmarriageable

I don't know about you but I spend a lot of time looking up the fashion the characters might be wearing in any given Austen book, whether I found myself looking at the Country Casuals catalog to see what Bridget Jones was complaining about, or going to one of the many Jane Austen websites and blogs to look at Regency attire, or how to tie a cravat (or, what IS a cravat, anyway...?). Unmarriageable was no expection, and oh oh oh. How beautiful these clothes are. Makes my color-loving heart sing!

Some Pinterest boards I liked, to give readers a sense of the styles:

I'm going to post these board on the Facebook page right now. Which reminds me...
