Providence's Wilbury Theatre Group "The Pirates of Penzance" - So. Much. Fun!
It's so much fun, and so many people rightfully love it and want to see it, that they've extended the show until June 17!

You have my strongest recommendation to go see this lively staging of the Gilbert and Sullivan classic before time runs out.

For This Production, the Action Is Up Close and Personal
Audience members who wish can sit on parts of the set! Just be aware that you may be asked to move your seat to another set piece during the production, as the cast moves around the stage area. If that's not your jam, don't worry. There are some traditional seating options, too.
Jimmy Buffet Pirates
The pirates and the daughters alike provide the instrumentation for the songs, using acoustic guitars, banjos, and percussion that they carry. The Pirates are also dressed in Bermuda shorts and Hawaiian shirts, with 80s style tube socks as their "uniforms." The daughter wear hot pants and Edwardian blouses. The General -- has interesting pajamas, and likes his coffee to go cups.

Change Your Perspective
If you choose to sit on the set itself, you will move around if the staging is set to where your sitting. This keeps you on your toes! It also adds to the ebullient enegery of G&S's silly wonder of an opera. And it gives you different perspectives throughout your time as an audience member.

A Classic Is a Classic
While there are many inventive changes to the show, the memorable hits are still in there, with all their challenges and brilliance.
I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I've information vegetable, animal, and mineral,

I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,

A Note about the Theater Space
How great is this view? This was when there was a lull in the on-stage action (a brief bit of seconds) and I look around and just delighted in how cool this theater space is. Set in a mixed industrial/residential and now arts area of Providence's Olneyville neighborhood (next door to my neighborhood of Federal Hill), it's a great spot to go out for a show.
