Books I Have Acquired Recently - NOPF2018
I had a running series on my Commonplace Book blog, in which I would write about the new books I've acquired. As an avowed bibliophile, I think this is a good thing to bring back!
Book Haul from New Orleans Poetry Festival
This is so modest, I know. However, I also know that I have a lot of books. I know carrying around books in one's luggage is not fun. As a result, I practice relative book-moderation, in what I brought home from the New Orleans Poetry Festival this year.

- Nights Reading :: Burton's Thousand and One :: by Marthe Reed - Lavender Ink
Bill Lavender, of Lavender Ink, gave copies Marthe Reed's book to those who wanted to read from it during the time when she would have read at the Lunchtime Poetry Reading of the festival on Sunday afternoon. We held her space, and I went up to read a poem from the book. Marthe had passed away suddenly just before the festival. Her death affected many in attendance. I did not know her personally, but I wanted to read her work during her time slot, to honor all my friends who were missing and grieving her, both at the festival and in the world-at-large. I am very sorry that I did not get to know her, as she seemed so very important and wonderful to so many poets who are important and wonderful to me.
On a lighter note, I received a bunch of Dusie books because Susana Gardner stayed with me at my mom's house before heading back to our mutual home base of Rhode Island. A good deal for boarding for both parties, I think :-D
