Do I Have Enough Pillows? - My Boho-Hygge Hybrid Bed

Lots of Pillows for a Comfy Cozy Hygge Bed

Creating a Hygge Bed, My Way AKA with Bright Boho Colors

I bought a new comforter and bed set that has these wonderfully calm grey, pale purple and off-white color palette. It's very hygge. -- Do you know this term, yet? If not, I'll get into in a bit. But for me, I cannot go all calm and pale - that isn't comforting and cozy for me. I love my bright boho decor. So I mixed the two and I like the effect.

The bright color linens are from Ikea. The "blanket" with the graphic print is actually a large swath of fabric at $7 that I use as a bedspread. The duvet cover and big pillow covers are also from Ikea for really good deals (can't remember exactly how cheap).

The pale color linens are from Home Goods: 2 pillow cases, king size comforter, 2 throw pillows for a total of $35.

Shall we count how many pillows I have on my bed? 3 big pillows that act as a headboard in the back, 3 in the middle, 2 king size, 8 throw pillows...so, sixteen. Hm. I guess that's enough...

What Is Hygge?

The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking

It's pronounced "hoo-ga" but with an Scandanavian accent. Ha.

Embrace Hygge (pronounced hoo-ga) and become happier with this definitive guide to the Danish philosophy of comfort, togetherness, and well-being.
Why are Danes the happiest people in the world? The answer, says Meik Wiking, CEO of the Happiness Research Institute in Copenhagen, is Hygge. Loosely translated, Hygge—pronounced Hoo-ga—is a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. "Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience," Wiking explains. "It is about being with the people we love. A feeling of home. A feeling that we are safe."

I love looking at "hygge" Pinterest pins. I find them delightfully calming and inspiring. It's a great thing to create this atmosphere at home. Especially with such a tough world out there these days.
