Basketball, Race and the Epitome of Eloquence

I hadn't heard about the controversy surrounding basketball player Jalen Rose's comments in the ESPN documentary 'The Fab Five" about Grant Hill and the rest of the Duke basketball players Rose faced at Michigan--he called them Uncle Toms. He disparaged Grant Hill for coming from a family with a mom and a dad who were college-educated.

In response, Grant Hill wrote this stunningly eloquent piece for the New York Times's College Basketball Blog "The Quad":

Really simple, straightforward, perfectly executed writing with a strong message to boot. Grant Hill is a real Renaissance Man. I may just have to ad him to my list of Phantom Husbands.

(Interesting factoid: his mother, Janet Hill, went to Wellesley the same year as Hillary Clinton. They were suite-mates even.)
