Links and connections and whatnot lead me to this article about Bern Porter, a Maine artist and scientist, who I do not remember learning about at UMaine, but I very well could have and somehow wasn't paying close enough attention. He seems like someone Creeley would have mentioned during his guest lecture appearances at UMaine for the Black Mountain class, or someone Sylvester Pollet would have known and been friends with...Who knows? Emily (Burnham) says she knew him as a personality in Belfast when she was growing up but didn't realize all of the amazing things he'd done.
