Mother's Day and poetry

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and motherly people of the world.

I LOVE this poem by John Wieners and I can absolutely see MY mother doing the same; talking to random people on the Red Line, being lovely and fun.

"My Mother" by John Wieners at PennSound.

Also, I wanted to post a link to an article that covers the origins of Mother's Day in America. Originally it was a day of protest against war, started by the poet and activist Julia Ward Howe.

(Julia Ward Howe is most known for penning the Battle Hymn of the Republic. The Atlantic has a copy of the poem on their site here.)
