New Yorky things that are psyching me up

One of the 3rd grade classes is reading "A Cricket in Times Square." I want to get them a Cricket Pagoda in China town as a present.

I'm re-reading that gem, "From the Mixed Up Fils of Mrs Basil E Frankweiler". Then, my lib supervisor here at the college mentioned, after I told her about the two books, an old Sesame Street movie starring Big Bird, called "Don't Eat the Pictures: Sesame Street and the Metropolitan Museum of Art" which I definitely remember watching when I was little. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0331999/ Thanks to KB for the link.)

Also, that gigantic Zukofsky bio I'm steadily making my way through is all about NYC sicne that is hwere he lived.

I am also still (since the day I voted for Obama...back in Nov 2008!) reading "Digressions on Some Poems by Frank O'Hara", which mentions the MoMA, the other museum I'm planning to go to in NYC, since that's where FO worked.

And my former professor, Steve Evans, is posting things to Facebook about New York (a sound clip from an installation at the MoMA http://www.thirdfactory.net/media/Abramovic-1900.mp3). He is there because his partner and another one of my former professors, Jennifer Moxley, read at a Poetry Project event this week.

Synergy!
