The Devil Wears Fake Allergies

Tonight I went to the movies with my aunt Betty and my mom (also named Betty, after my aunt Betty, her mom’s sister). We went to the Dedham Community Theatre which is only $5 on Tuesdays. For the first 15 minutes of the movie, we had no one in front of us so we were all relaxed, leaving our feet up on the seats and resting our purses across. Then this couple comes in all chatty at the last minute and sat in front of Betty and Betty. Well, Aunt Betty was having none of that. First she rather loudly commented to us that she lost her foot rest. Then she developed a cough. I did, too. And allergies. I “sneezed” a few times. Then I rather loudly leaned across and asked if the Betties had cough drops. “My allergies,” I loudly whispered.
The couple got up and moved.
I had to pretend to look really hard for cough drops in my ridiculously large purse as I laughed my ass off into my bag.
And I also laughed at the movie, The Devil Wears Prada. I never listen to critics when it comes to Romantic/Chick based Comedies. It's like they're expecting Woody Allen. No man, it's brain candy. Fluff to enjoy. Did they expect some Fellinian existential depth? It’s a chick flick comedy. I expect it to be shallow, entertaining, and hour and a half, have cute guys and lots of pretty clothes, shoes and bags. And that’s exactly what I got. I especially loved the costumes. Patricia Field is my hero.
So there you go.
